Meeting with Cabinet Secretary
David Clubb and Emma Pinchbeck of RenewableUK were joined by representatives of Vattenfall and Innogy Renewables for a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary for Environment & Rural Affairs, Lesley Griffiths.
The meeting was productive. We suggested a number of ways in which we can help reduce barriers to further wind energy development in Wales, as well as helping to unlock wider economic activity through improved grid infrastructure.

Renewable energy targets
In December 2016, Lesley Griffiths announced that Wales would be developing its own renewable energy targets. The original ambition had been to publish the targets by the summer; we understand that early autumn is now the most likely time.
We’ve offered our support to the energy team in Welsh Government to come up with challenging but attainable targets for different technologies.
I was pleased to hear the @wgcs_enviro statement on energy yesterday. Big steps needed, cross-party support evident https://t.co/E3aVRnw0Hn pic.twitter.com/lXCaEZ9Aya

It’s our biggest conference of the year, with a stellar list of speakers including the Cabinet Secretary, Lesley Griffiths; Professor Jim Skea of Imperial College and the IPCC; and Dermot Nolan, Chief Executive of Ofgem.
Last year we topped 120 attendees. This year it’s bigger and even better. Get your tickets from our dedicated website.
