DECC yesterday confirmed that they had received the Planning Inspector’s report of the public inquiry of five wind farm applications and the related overhead line in mid Wales.

The passage of the projects to the final part of the decision-making process makes it likely that a decision will be taken before the purdah period of the May 2015 General Election.

David Clubb said:

“The wind energy sector welcomes the movement of this report to DECC, so that a decision can be made which could help unlock hundreds of millions of pounds of investment for the businesses and communities of mid Wales, as well as providing a massive boost to Wales’ renewable energy output.

“We stand ready to maximise the benefits to the mid Wales area through skills and training, local supply chain and contracts, and community benefits.”
